Fundamental Florals 1.0

Description

This course provides students the fundamental tools of Floral Design.

It includes information on sourcing and processing florals as well as techniques in greening, skills for creating handtied bouquets and designing with various vessels with various mechanics.

Each week will include a variety of different types of blooms and discussion on the Elements and Principles of Design with lots of creative design time. Seasonal designs and flowers will be incorporated along with eco conscious concepts.

The emphasis on this class will be to encourage a positive creative space, learning through demonstration, hands-on practice, and class discussion. Student will develop a solid foundation of mechanics of the trade as well as an introduction to the principles and elements of floral design.

A supply fee of $50 per night is payable to the instructor. This extra fee is to pay for the fresh flowers, greenery and supplies that you will use at each class. This is in addition to the registration fee.

A certificate will be issued upon course completion.

Shirley Burns is a Certified Floral Designer who began her floral industry career within the Continuing Education arena. Through continued education and a personal desire to always continue learning, she has accumulated a variety of experience through practical work as well as working with and training with world renown floral professionals.

She has her own private floral studio based in Langley, where she provides florals to a variety of local events such as weddings, showers, and many other celebrations as well as providing fun floral workshops. Additionally, she has a small boutique flower farm where she grows the majority of her flowers for her events.

Shirley is an advocate on continued education and is genuinely interested in creating a safe space for creativity to be explored through curiosity, practice and desire.
