To standout candidate in today’s highly competitive job market, you need to prepare well before an interview, whether on the phone, in person, or virtual. This course will introduce students to the necessary steps they should take to leave a lasting impression at their next interview.
Students will receive instruction in what research they should undertake about a potential employer before attending an interview, including skills and experience valued by the employer, the company’s culture, mission, and values, and other relevant details. Insight will be provided on how to best dress for an interview to leave an appropriate impression and portray good body language (i.e., sitting properly in a seat). The difference between behavioral and competency-based interviews will be examined. Guidance will be provided on the recommended behaviours to adopt and avoid before, during, and after an interview. Students will have an opportunity to practice general, entry-level, situational, and personality interview questions and become familiar with some of the most common job interview questions and answers. Sample interview questions will be provided.
