Virtual Class Help
We’re now offering a variety of our classes online, and the list keeps growing daily! All of our classes that have been scheduled as a virtual class will say so in the description. Read below for our FAQ’s.
Open Classroom Times
If you would like to try out the virtual classroom, we invite you to attend to one of our free “Open Classroom” times, where you can get tech help, test your computer equipment, or just try out the classroom before registering.
During advertised times, Open Classroom sessions are scheduled in an “open house” format. Simply drop in at any point during the time window.
When the Open Classroom is available – Instructions to access:
Simply click the buttons below (not currently displayed) to enter the Open Classroom, and follow the prompts. If your computer or device asks you for permission to use your camera and microphone, click “allow” or “grant permission”. Then enter your name, and ask to join. One of our helpers will be there to greet you and answer any questions you have.
If you have any trouble accessing the open classroom, please email firstname.lastname@example.org, and you’ll receive a quick response during open classroom times. Please include a telephone number in your email.
Watch here for announcements for special times for the Open Classroom, or check your email for announcements related to your specific class.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do livestreamed classes work?
Attend at the regularly-scheduled class time, from the comfort of your home Mac or PC computer, tablet, iPad, or smartphone. Livestreaming means you interact with a REAL Instructor, in real-time, from your computer. This is NOT pre-recorded content. (You must log in and attend at the time class is offered, this is not a “watch-when-you-like” option.)
What do I need to participate?
Not much, actually.
- A computer (Mac or PC), or an Android smartphone, or an Android tablet, or an iPad or iPhone. As long as it has a webcam and microphone, you’re good to go! (And YES, you can disable your camera for privacy!)
- NO special software
- NO additional costs
- NO technical know-how or fancy tools
Livestreamed classes are just “click-and-enter”
Once you have registered, an email will be sent to you a few days before the class, with a link to click and enter the virtual classrom. Nothing to download, nothing to install. Your webcam and microphone can display your image and voice to the rest of the class, or you can choose to mute the microphone or turn off the camera. You will still be able to hear and see the Instructor.
Livestreamed classes are EXACTLY the same content as the in-person class
Get exactly the same handouts, same exercises, and same interaction with your Instructor, as if you were in the same room with them. Ask all your same questions, hear your fellow classmates, and see the same presentations. No compromises.
