Our MOA program has returned! Fully revised and updated, with new specialization options, this certificate program enables new health administrator entrants, health career upgraders, and external career changers with the skills they need to make successful transitions.

Each full Program offers participants 120 hours of classroom training, within four courses at 30 hours each, at a total price of $1996 per certificate.  Each course will be graded according to successful completion of quizzes and assignments.

The MOA program will prepare a student for a job in the healthcare industry. These course offerings with a practicum work experience (arranged individually with instructor) will prepare the students for the MOA role. The MOA role is in demand in family practice, walk-in clinics, specialty practices as well as facilities like Fraser Health and the health authorities.

Basic Medical Terminology (30 hours) 

Using the short course of the Language of Medicine textbook we will be exploring the 11 systems of the body and focusing on medical terms, spelling, pronunciation, pharmacology and how it all works with anatomy and physiology. This is not a biology course.

MOA Office Procedures (30 hours)

The focus of this course it to introduce the students to the basic unique skills required to work in a medical office environment. This course does not focus on computers or administration skills, those skills can be obtain through other continuing education offerings. This course will cover scheduling, referrals, requisitions, medical asepsis, instrument sterilization, and clinical skills (urinalysis, vitals etc.).

Ethics and Confidentiality (30 hours)

The healthcare field requires and strong foundation in ethics and confidentiality. This course will cover all aspects of privacy and security and the medical records.

EMR Fluency & Medical Billing (30 hours)

The Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is the foundation of the practice. It manages the scheduling, patients’ medical records, and the medical billing. When properly run it can provide excellent office efficiency. This course will cover all aspects of the EMR.

Specialization 1: AMOA – Allied Medical Office Assistant Program

Allied Healthcare is the fastest growing sector in the healthcare industry. Per capita spending on Allied Care in Canada is 30% of all healthcare spending and is growing at almost double the rate of the traditional medical industry. Our research shows for every 100 healthcare jobs posted online, approximately 33% are for AMOA (Allied Medical Office Administrator) for which there is no current local training other than this program.

Specialization 2: CM – Clinic Management Program
