Throw away everything you have read about what Networking is because, in this high-energy workshop, you will discover some secrets on how to make your networking fun and meaningful. We will discuss what networking is and more importantly, what it isn’t – it doesn’t need to be as painful as you think it is!

As a result of attending this dynamic workshop, you will:

  • Discover the true meaning of networking
  • Understand how to increase business with effective networking
  • Embrace the host spirit
  • Be introduced to the key steps of successful networking
  • Understand the value of a ‘friendly’ self-introduction versus an ‘elevator speech’
  • Identify at least one new strategy to implement and improve your networking style
  • Commit to follow up with your network

Handouts will be provided, but Students are asked to bring a pen and something to bring notes on.

Instructor:

Sherrin is an expert in marketing, customer relationships, and brand image, as well as owns a graphic design and marketing agency, Shervin Communications, with her partner Kevin. They have been in business for 32 years! In their business, they work with companies to help articulate and honour their unique “brand” image, which includes marketing consulting and visual representation through the development of a corporate identity package, in addition to the design of all supporting promotional materials, websites, and online marketing. This knowledge gives her what you need to learn a bit more about the wonderful world of marketing!

Her business background in sales, customer service, marketing, and facilitation positions her well in this demanding and lean world of business. She has an inquisitive yet friendly manner, seeking to approach issues from the customer’s point of view — always! Her passionate and honest style is refreshing, leaving people with a real and practical understanding of their brand and the messages they need to convey. Sherrin knows that for the message to be believable, the person and company delivering it needs to be just as, if not more so.

Sherrin’s volunteer efforts have been impressive, having been involved with:
• Victim Assistance & Community Policing – New West
• BC Summer Games – Burnaby and Coquitlam
• Michael J Fox Theatre Society – Burnaby
• Youth Mentorship & Dress for Success – Vancouver

She has served as National Chapter Liaison for Canadian Women in Communications and as President and other executive positions for the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers in BC and BC Food and Beverage Membership Committee Chair and Co-chair for FoodProWest. Currently, Sherrin is a member of the Langley Chamber of Commerce and their Policy Committee, and a director of the BC Food and Beverage Association.

For her dedication and effort, Sherrin has been a “Woman of Distinction” in Burnaby. She was one of 20 finalists for the “Influential Woman in Business” and won “National Volunteer of the Year” for Canadian Women in Communications. Her company has been listed in the Business in Vancouver publication as one of the top Graphic Design Agencies in BC. Sherrin was also awarded the “Small Business of the Year” award in the city of Burnaby and has been on the Top 100 fastest-growing businesses list in Vancouver.
