This beginner-level course will give you skills for basic conversation needed for travel or communicating with co-workers, neighbours and friends. Over seven evenings you will learn basic grammar, vocabulary, greetings, numbers, and simple conversation needed for shopping, ordering food, hiring a taxi, or small talk about the weather, sports, pets, or conversing with Punjabi-speaking customers at your work place.
You will also learn the relevance of food, dance and festivals in Punjabi culture. Your Instructor, Rajnish Dhawan, is an Associate Professor in the English Department at the University of the Fraser Valley. He has taught languages and literature for over 18 years. His students have ranged from people wanting to do business in India, inter-cultural marriages, tourists going to India, to people wanting to watch Bollywood movies without reading the subtitles.
