Description

This introductory course will teach;

• The basics of the elements of design
• the floral lingo
• Some color theory

These classes will include arrangements such as;

• the standard European hand-tied
• cube vase arrangements
• taller one-sided arrangements
• plus a few stylized versions of each.

Students are asked to bring a pair of snips to class (link coming soon), the rest of the materials will be provided during the remainder of the course.

Supply cost per week is $60 payable to the instructor, Fridays before each class. The first payment will be arranged by the office and subsequent by the instructor, all payable by e-transfer. If payments are not made by the Friday prior, there will be no product for you to work with in class.

A certificate will be issued upon course completion.

About Your Instructor
Vanessa’s floral education began in 2011, and she received her Floral Design Certification in Spring 2012 from University of the Fraser Valley. That same year, Vanessa graduated with her Event Planning Certification as well, and her hospitality career began. Vanessa’s experience includes working in wedding & event décor, staging homes, designing wedding flowers for venues and working full time for five years in a local flower shop as the Head Designer and Manager. Design has been a huge part of her life for most of her 10+ year career and has a role to play in any creative job that she has.

Vanessa’s goal with this class is to bring a fun, new perspective to an age-old art; proving that it is both timeless and customizable to every era, social climate, and individual personality. Her hope is for students to come away with valuable knowledge and real-life skills to use in their creative endeavors, and to encourage them to find their passion as she has with flowers and design.
