From Allowance to Independence: Teaching Your Kids About Money

Description

Raise Kids Who Know What to Do With Money.

We teach our kids how to read, drive, cook, and prepare for a career—but how much time do we spend teaching them how to manage money?  Healthy financial habits don’t suddenly appear when a child turns 18. They develop over years through conversations, experiences, mistakes and, perhaps most importantly, by watching their parents.
In this practical and engaging course, financial planner, author, and father of three Edwin Palsma will explore how parents can help their children develop a healthy relationship with money.  We’ll discuss allowances and chores, earning and spending, saving and investing, debt and credit cards, first jobs, education costs, and how to let children make financial mistakes while the consequences are still small.
You’ll also learn simple ways to introduce concepts such as compound growth, investing, delayed gratification, and balancing what we want today with what we’ll need tomorrow.
The goal isn’t to raise kids who never make financial mistakes. It’s to raise young adults who have the knowledge, confidence, and experience to make good financial decisions for themselves.
