Whether your goal is to be employed in a business office, working in an accounting position, or to start a home-based business contracting bookkeeping and accounting jobs, this Certificate Program will provide a foundation of knowledge and skills for you to succeed. You will develop an understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping, including working with Charts of Accounts, General Journal, General Ledger, Tax Remittances, Sales Journals, monthly and year-end Bank Reconciliation, Data Security, Budgeting and much more.
You will gain a working knowledge of computerized accounting in both Sage 50 and QuickBooks. You will learn to perform key payroll duties including calculations, record keeping, issuing invoices, producing cheques and reports. You will become familiar with Windows. You will gain word processing skills using the most current software. You will be able to use Microsoft Excel, and perform spreadsheet functions at an advanced level. You will have sound keyboarding skills and will be able to perform office communications and scheduling using Microsoft Outlook.
